Privacy Policy

Smarter is built as a local-first driver assistant. This policy explains what information we handle, what stays on your device, and what may be stored online when you use account, subscription, support, or optional backup features.

Account and Subscription Data

  • Email address and authentication information needed to create or access your Smarter account.
  • Subscription status, plan, trial status, purchase source, and device association information used to provide access to paid features and prevent abuse.
  • Support requests, account deletion requests, and messages you send to us.

Payments

Most Smarter subscriptions are purchased through Google Play on Android or the Apple App Store on iPhone. If you choose an optional web checkout, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full credit card number. Apple, Google, Stripe, and your payment provider handle payment information under their own policies.

What Stays on Your Device

Your offers history, earnings records, trip details, and shift history are stored locally on your device by default. Except for limited feature requests described in this policy, Smarter does not upload that history to our servers for routine app use.

  • You can view, manage, export, or clear local history from the app where those controls are available.
  • Uninstalling the app or clearing app storage may remove local app data from your device.
  • If you create a local export or backup file, you control where that file is saved or shared.

Route and ETA Estimates

In markets where route-estimate features are available, Smarter may process limited pickup and dropoff address or location information from an offer through Smarter servers and routing providers such as Mapbox to calculate estimated distance and travel time. This information is used to provide the route estimate feature. Smarter does not use this feature to upload your full offer history, earnings history, or trip history for routine app use.

Optional Settings Backup

If you choose to save Smarter settings or profiles online, the settings needed for that backup may be stored in our backend so you can restore them later. This is optional. Local backup/export tools may also be available without using online backup.

Device Permissions

Smarter may request permissions such as accessibility/on-screen access, notifications, photos/media access, location, or background activity depending on the features you enable and the device platform you use. These permissions are used to provide app features on your device. You can change permissions in your device settings.

Gig App Credentials

Smarter does not require your Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Hopp, or other gig app email or password. Your gig platform credentials stay with the official apps and services you use.

What We Do Not Sell

We do not sell your personal information. We also do not sell your local offer history, earnings history, trip details, or shift history.

Service Providers

We may use trusted service providers for account authentication, subscription access, payment processing, hosting, routing and mapping estimates, customer support, email, app distribution, and security. These providers may process information only as needed to provide those services.

Retention and Deletion

  • Local app data remains on your device until you delete it, clear app storage, or uninstall the app.
  • Account, subscription, support, and optional online backup records are kept as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and prevent abuse.
  • You can request deletion through the app, the website delete-account page, or by contacting support.
  • Apple, Google, and Stripe may retain payment records according to their own legal and platform requirements.

Children

Smarter is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Changes

We may update this policy as Smarter changes. When we do, we will post the updated version here and update the date above.
